Enjoy Your Retirement In Orange County's Warm Sunshine

Author: Administrator
As the familiar theme song of the old television series "The Beverley Hillbillies" proclaims, "California is the place 'ya otta be". That sentiment holds true for the lucky folks who choose to spend their retirement in Orange County.

If you are one of the millions of baby boomers who will want to retire in the next few years, you really should start to plan right now. Real estate prices have tumbled thirty-six percent in the last couple of years and so it is within the realm of possibility that you could own a house for less than fifty percent of the cost of a similar home elsewhere in the country.

This hiccup in the market is a wake up call to action because as surely as night follows day, these low prices will start to rise again. So right now is the perfect time to consider purchasing your California retirement home. If you're not ready to move there now, why not rent it out until you are ready?

Or you could buy a home for your parents to enjoy while they are still active. Then later, when the time comes, you can sell it at a profit, or move in yourself. At many California retirement communities the magic senior age requirement is 55. Usually only one spouse needs to have achieved this milestone. The other can be younger and still be eligible to enjoy active senior community living.

California is famous for its planned accommodation for seniors, some of which have been used as models of excellence all around the world. Take the city of Laguna Hills for example, where one of the most famous planned retirement communities has been built. The result is a rare combination of city convenience and countryside peace. This development is a completely contained and gated retirement community planned specifically for the safety, comfort and enjoyment of the residents that live there. The only business in Laguna Woods Village is the pro shop at the golf course and because of that traffic is held to a mere trickle.

Southern California is one of the most picturesque areas of the world, drawing folks from far and wide to its agreeable Mediterranean climate and spectacular scenery. Stretching along the coastline you will discover such legendary names as Huntington Beach, Balboa Island, and Newport Beach.

Bring your grandchildren to Disneyland or Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, then cool off at Soak City, or Wild Rivers water park. Before you know it, you'll feel like a kid yourself.

Professional sports are huge in Orange County. Why not head out for a ball game and watch the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim who won the World Series in 2002?

If hockey is your game, the Anaheim Ducks will welcome you to their pond. They beat the Ottawa Senators for the Stanley Cup in 2007, and came real close in 2003, winning three games of a best of seven series with the New Jersey Devils.

There won't be enough days in the week to enjoy the Orange County Baseball Flyers, the Orange County Blue Star soccer team, or the Orange County Roller Girls. If you enjoy hoops, there's the Anaheim Arsenal and the Orange County Gladiators.

With so much to see and do in the warm California sun, your retirement days will be full to the brim. In fact you may find yourself even busier than when you worked for a living!
